Day
01. (TUE) MEXICO
Arrival at Mexico City airport. Assistance and transfer to your
hotel. Overnight.
Day 02. (WED) MEXICO CITY
Breakfast. In the morning, a panoramic visit through
the city, starting at the historic downtown, visiting the main
square, Zocalo, Cathedral, Government Palace, and Diego Rivera’s
Murals. We will continue on to Reforma Avenue and Chapultepec.
A brief visit to the Anthropology National Museum, one of the
most important in the world. There you may stay on your own or
go back to the hotel. Free afternoon. We suggest an optional excursion
to Xochimilco's water canals. Overnight. Departure day.
Day 03. (THU) MEXICO – PUEBLA - OAXACA
(DEPARTURE DAY)
Breakfast. Departure to Puebla “City of Angels”
visiting Santa Maria Tonantzintla, temple gorgeously decorated
by indigenous hands. On our arrival to Puebla; Rosario’s
Chapel, the Cathedral, the Main Square and the Historical Downtown.
Lunch. Continuation to Oaxaca. Arrival and Overnight.
Day 04. (FRI) OAXACA-MONTE ALBAN-MITLA-TULE
Breakfast. During the morning visit to Monte Alban, a
great archeological site to behold. Built on a mountain top flattened
by the Zapotecs. Where we will find different culture manifestations
such as Olmecs, Mixtecs and Zapotecs.The Main Square, the Observatory,
Tomb # 7, the Stones of the Dancers. Later, we will continue on
to Mitla, one of the most enigmatic sacred places. The village
had a great importance as a burial site. The buildings are decorated
with symbolic mosaics. In route we are going to find the Tule
Tree, perhaps one of the biggest living beings in the world. Return
to Oaxaca and visit its beautiful city, including the Cathedral,
the magnificent Santo Domingo church and Gold museum. Overnight.
Day 05. (SAT) OAXACA – SUMIDERO CANYON -SAN CRISTOBAL
Breakfast on route. Early morning departure to Tuxtla
Gutierrez, capital city of the State of Chiapas. You will enjoy
the landscapes of the southern mountains. Transfer by boat to
Sumidero Park. Lunch. If time permits, we will walk by the eco-tourist
park; enjoy the swimming pool or the “Tyrolese” (optional).
Boat ride through the Sumidero Canyon, with 1,000 meters (3,300
feet) at its highest point. Passing through Chiapa de Corzo on
our way to San Cristobal de las Casas. Overnight.
Day 06. (SUN) SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS - NATIVE TOWNS
Breakfast. Visit to San Juan Chamula and Zinacantán,
typical native towns, where the people still keep their traditions,
language, customs, believes as well as their social structures.
Some times you may witness traditional rituals. The Church temple,
housing and clothing are very original. Afternoon at your leisure.
We recommend visiting this beautiful city; The Market, the Cathedral,
Santo Domingo church as well as the Jade museum to view King Pakal´s
tomb replica. Overnight.
Day 07. (MON) SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS - AGUA AZUL - PALENQUE
Breakfast. Head to Agua Azul waterfalls, to admire their
turquoise colored waters. With possibility of swimming. If the
time permits it, a short stop at Misol-Ha will be made, another
beautiful fall. Afterwards we will continue on to Palenque. Dinner
and Overnight.
Day 08. (TUE) PALENQUE – VILLAHERMOSA-MEXICO DF
Breakfast. Visit to the archaeological site of Palenque,
surrounded by jungle. One of the prime and most important sites
of the “Mayan World”. Inside the Pyramid of the Inscriptions,
King Pakal's sarcophagus and its fascinating carved gravestone
were found. We will view the Sun Temple, the Cross Temple &
the Palace. Lunch on your own. Transfer to Villahermosa city airport
for flight to Mexico City. Flight ticket not included. Book flight
departure after 5 PM. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Overnight.
Day 09. (WED) México City
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport to take your flight
back. Flight ticket not included.
